Mr. Melton

By Lucia Nelson, Brooke Burgess, and Cami Palmer

Recently we interviewed our principal, Mr. Melton, about his experience at WestMr. Melton first came to West Middle School in August, 2003. We asked Mr. Melton about where he worked before he came to WMS and why he decided to apply for the job. He told us that before he worked here Mr. Melton actually worked at Sunset Hill, the school right by ours!

Mr. Melton worked at Sunset and Langston Hughes, when he decided it was time for a change of scene, he then applied for the principal’s job at West. Mr. Melton’s favorite thing about West is watching all the students participate in activities that weren’t available to them in elementary. We asked him if he had any words of wisdom for the new principal. Mr. Melton said that he just wanted to tell the new principal that he was picking a great school with great community and staff. We agree. Thank you Mr. Melton for telling us all about your story. Thank you so much for the great years of being our principal at WMS!

Get to Know Mrs. Madgwick

Get to know the BEST orchestra teacher!

Ms.Madgwick is the West Middle School Orchestra teacher. In school, she loved orchestra, was a violinist, and knew early on that she wanted to be a teacher. When teaching West Orchestra classes, she loves the energy of the students and strength of the fine arts department. She loves music, the bagpipes, and the marimba. Also, she describes herself as artistic, detailed, and enthusiastic. Without Ms.Madgwick, West wouldn’t have such a great music department. Thank you Ms.Madgwick!
